Round six of the FIA World Rally Championship was held on the Mediterranean island of Corsica. With its narrow, twisty mountain roads. 1997 was the 41st running of the tour de course. Based in the island´s capital at Ajaccio, the three day event included over two hundred kilometers of new stages.

You are looking at a Group 7 sports racer. Built with a few restrictions regarding engine, chassis or body, these cars are considered to be the unlimiteds of road racing cars. Traditionally they had been powered by Chevrolet engines of up to 510 cubic inches in size and producing around 750 horsepower. Since 1967 the Canadian American Challenge Cup Series for Group 7 cars has been dominated by the orange machines of the powerful McLaren Team.
