The John Coltrane Quartet, with McCoy Tyner and Elvin Jones was formed in October 1960 - bassist Jimmy Garrison joined the band one year later. The quartet showed immense creativity through its various incarnations. The audience expected great things and these musicians were involved in one of the most innovative times in the history of Jazz.
